If you thought 2025 couldn't get any better after the masterpiece that was When Life Gives You Tangerines, hold onto your lightsticks because the news we’ve been waiting for is finally here!
After months of rumors and that confusing "did they/didn't they" casting drama, it is officially CONFIRMED: IU is returning to the small screen in 2026 alongside the 'Lovely Runner' star, Byeon Woo-seok!😍
🎬 The New Drama: 21st Century Grand Lady
(Tentative Title: Wife of a 21st Century Prince)
Disney+ has officially announced that this star-studded series will air in the first half of 2026.
The Plot:
Imagine a modern-day South Korea that is still a monarchy (think Princess Hours vibes but updated!).
• IU plays Seong Hee-joo: A super-rich, intelligent, and fierce chaebol heiress who has everything—money, looks, talent— except noble status.
• Byeon Woo-seok plays Prince Lee Ahn: The King’s second son who has the royal blood but no power or wealth. He’s described as "The Nation’s Most Beloved Royal" but hides a fiery heart.
The story follows their "contract marriage" that defies social class. We are getting Boss Lady IU x Soft Prince Woo-seok and I am NOT ready for the visuals! 😩🔥

Before we look ahead, can we just take a moment to appreciate the year we just had?
Earlier this March, Netflix dropped When Life Gives You Tangerines (Fox-kind), and honestly, I still haven't moved on from Ae-soon and Gwan-sik. IU's chemistry with Park Bo-gum was pure healing magic. 🌿 Seeing her go from the rugged Jeju rebel Ae-soon to this new sharp, wealthy heiress character is going to be such a crazy transformation. That's why she's the GOAT!
