IU has graced us with countless unforgettable roles, from the haunted Hotel del Luna to the heartwarming My Mister, and her music continues to heal and inspire millions. So, what’s next for this powerhouse artist in the world of K-dramas and films? Let's dive into the latest whispers and confirmed updates!
Film Focus: Dream with Park Seo-joon – A Cinematic Goal!
First up, let’s talk silver screen! IU’s much-anticipated film Dream, alongside the charismatic Park Seo-joon, has been a hot topic for a while. Directed by Lee Byeong-heon (known for Extreme Job), this sports-comedy film sees IU as Lee So-min, a producing director documenting a special soccer team. The cast also includes Kim Jong-soo and Go Chang-suk, promising a stellar ensemble. The film wrapped up filming quite some time ago, and we’re all just counting down the days until its official release! Keep an eye out for potential release dates and trailers soon – it promises to be a heartwarming and hilarious watch. We saw glimpses of their chemistry in behind-the-scenes snaps, hinting at a delightful pairing.
K-Drama Confirmed: You Have Done Well – A Journey Through Jeju's Past
This is the news that sent Uaenas into a frenzy! IU is confirmed to star in the upcoming K-drama You Have Done Well (literal translation from Korean title 폭싹 속았수다), opposite the incredibly talented Park Bo-gum! This drama is set to be a historical piece, unfolding on Jeju Island in the 1950s.
IU will portray Ae-soon, a rebellious yet anxious young woman who dreams of becoming a poet, despite not being able to attend school. Her character is described as bright and full of life, always challenging the norm. Park Bo-gum will play Gwan-sik, a diligent and quiet character who dedicates his love purely to Ae-soon. The narrative will follow their life adventures and love story through all four seasons.
Written by the brilliant Im Sang-choon (of When the Camellia Blooms and Fight for My Way fame) and directed by Kim Won-seok (who worked with IU on My Mister and Signal), this drama has an all-star team behind it. Filming is expected to begin in the first half of 2023, and it's already being dubbed as one of the most anticipated K-dramas. The reunion with Director Kim Won-seok especially has fans buzzing with excitement, given their incredible synergy on My Mister.
