Is everyone okay? Because I’m definitely still not over the "Love wins all" music video. 😭
When IU first announced this pre-release single for her album The Winning, we all knew it would be special. But I don't think any of us were prepared for the emotional rollercoaster she gave us—especially with V (Kim Taehyung) as the male lead.
A Dystopian Masterpiece
Directed by the legendary Um Tae-hwa (who directed Concrete Utopia), this isn't just a music video—it’s a 5-minute cinematic short film. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, we see IU and V running for their lives from a mysterious, terrifying Cube (also called "Nemo").
The Hidden Symbols
What makes this MV so deep are the symbols. Here’s what they really mean:
• The Cube: The director explained that the cube represents discrimination and oppression that marginalized people face every day.
• The Camcorder: This is my favorite part. Through the lens of the camcorder, they see a world before it was ruined. It’s a "filter of love" that allows them to see the beauty in each other beyond their struggles and disabilities.
• The Wedding Dress & Tuxedo: Amidst the ruins, they choose to wear these "clichéd" symbols of love. It represents their desire for freedom and happiness in a world that wants to destroy them.
Why This Hit Different
Watching IU and V use sign language to communicate and protecting each other until the very end was honestly soul-crushing. Even though their bodies vanish, leaving only their clothes behind, the ending suggests they are finally liberated and free.
